Royal honorific misused

I felt compelled to correct your headline in the July 25 paper. Your title Your Majesty in reference to the birth of Prince George of Cambridge is erroneous. A prince or princess is addressed as Your Royal Highness or Your Highness.

I felt compelled to correct your headline in the July 25 paper. Your title Your Majesty in reference to the birth of Prince George of Cambridge is erroneous. A prince or princess is addressed as Your Royal Highness or Your Highness. If you are saying Your Majesty then you are addressing a king or queen. While it is extremely optimistic to be addressing the young prince as Majesty - remember he is third in line for the crown and the title.

In future it would be wise to research your headlines - though I am sure the excitement of the royal birth may have been too much for the people who live in the namesake town. Though I am not a resident of Prince George, I would suggest to your city council that instead of sending gifts to the young prince, perhaps a donation to one of the royal charities would be in better taste and do more to help the less fortunate.
