As you well know Canadians depend on the CPP and QPP for retirement security. If you do not support the motion to expand the pension benefits, many Canadians could be faced with a financial crisis as a result. It is your job to ensure that all Canadians are able to retire in dignity.
So I ask that you do the right thing and support the motion to expand pension benefits and that the House call on the government to commit to supporting an immediate phase-in of increases to basic public pension benefits under the Canada and Quebec Pension Plans at the upcoming meeting of federal, provincial and territorial finance ministers.
