Remembrance Day is once again fast approaching.
This is the time of year that we set aside to remember the fallen and the sacrifices they made throughout war time and peace time and this is our time to honour the fallen and stand with the families of the fallen to show our support and respect.
Sadly, many people miss the signifigance of this event and why we do it and all too often choose this time to bring in their political and personal beliefs into this.
First off, the people who do this are disrespectful, ignorant and shallow. This is not the time for political and personal beliefs. This is a time to honour and reflect on both the fallen and the living for the sacrifices made and to show our support to those who have and still serve. Shame on you if you choose to be disrespectful of this and using it as a platform for your agenda.
Secondly, there is a new generation of those who have fallen and served who we now give our respects to regardless of your beliefs.
The men and women who fell in the line of duty both abroad and here at home on our own soil deserve both our respect and remembrance. This is their time to shine and for us to show them the respect and honour they deserve.
Do not dare to sully their time with your own agenda as that is petty, shallow and most of all disrespectful.
What you do with the rest of the year is yours but for this brief moment in time this is not your platform but the platform of those who sacrificed all for the chance that others would not have to go through this in the future.
Is that not too much to ask of you?
Lest we forget.
