Respect the elderly

I recently took my dad to a doctor's appointment at the Victoria Medical Building and am in shock at how the setup in the lower part of the medical building is after leaving his appointment.

We got to the lower level and he was out of breath and I thought I would sit him down to catch his breath. Much to my surprise, there was nowhere for him to sit. As I looked around a lot of elderly people were standing up against the walls, all of whom were saying the same as to why there are no benches or chairs to sit.

I am not being rude, but this being a medical building filled with people with health issues, shouldn't there be somewhere for our seniors to sit? It didn't just seem to be the elderly, but parents struggled to carry their sick children in their arms waiting for a ride.

All I'm saying is, it does look nice with the fireplace and hall table but really somewhere for someone to sit when they need it or relax. People with crutches or other walking devices might be something to think about as many of us where in shock and discussed this matter.

I was asked by many elderly to write this letter to The Citizen in hope that there will be some benches or seating available for everyone to regain their strength before moving on.

Respect for the elderly is a must, I believe.
