Residents reject renaming O’Grady Road, Prince George poll finds

There is plenty of controversy around Bishop Fergus O’Grady, who served as a priest in the Kamloops Indian Residential School during the 1940s before he came to Prince George to head the diocese.

There is plenty of controversy around Bishop Fergus O’Grady, who served as a priest in the Kamloops Indian Residential School during the 1940s before he came to Prince George to head the diocese.

So, in a recent poll on The Citizen’s website, we asked: Should O’Grady Road in College Heights be renamed?

A total of 587 respondents (56 per cent) voted no, 270 respondents (26 per cent) voted yes and 185 respondents (18 per cent) voted “only after consultation with the Lheidli T’enneh.” 

A total of 1,042 confirmed local votes were cast in the poll. This poll had a 3.01 per cent margin of error, 19 times out of 20.
