Refinery in Ontario, Quebec could increase pipeline support

Last week, the National Energy Board hearings into the Energy East pipeline had to be suspended because of people protesting against it. Is there a way around this problem where both side can claim victory? I believe there can be.

Last week, the National Energy Board hearings into the Energy East pipeline had to be suspended because of people protesting against it.

I wrote a blog on Facebook and one of the people who responded said that Canada currently imports 14 per cent of its oil from the Middle East. Currently Canada sells crude oil to the U.S. for less than world prices.

The U.S. then ships the refined product back to Canadians at world prices. My question is if we built a refinery in Ontario or Quebec would this help the process along?

The federal government could aid in helping this project in becoming a reality.

I am fed up with buying Middle East oil only to have them buy weapons to carry on these wars that have created so much despair.

This project could employ a lot of people who have lost their job because of factories closing.
