Reader livid about comments people have made

I am absolutely livid about some of the comments being written online and said out loud by people of all ages, toward the recent and very tragic, not to mention very preventable death, of Kristen Nelson.

I am absolutely livid about some of the comments being written online and said out loud by people of all ages, toward the recent and very tragic, not to mention very preventable death, of Kristen Nelson.

I would like to point out to some Prince George residents, that maybe, just maybe, some of the horrible, thoughtless comments that a few adults and children can sometimes make to each other, had something to do with this.

In my outings in and around Prince George I have heard some heartless, thoughtless and very judgemental comments made about the death of a 14-year-old girl.

I have a child who currently attends PGSS and a faculty member asked, "Did you hear what that dumb girl did," not thinking for a second that they could be talking to a friend of Kristen's.

How can adults teach children about the horrible negative effects of bullying others, when we as adults, have obviously not yet learned this very true fact.

How can a person be so callous toward the death of a 14-year-old girl.

There is said to be a zero tolerance policy on bullying in Prince George schools, or so I have read in many of the school news letters I have received over the years. I currently have three children attending school, all of whom have had an issue with being bullied, and a fourth to start in September.

I cannot help but wonder, when does this "Zero tolerance with bullies," take effect?

When I heard the news of Kristen's death, I prayed to God that she had finally found the peace she deserved in life.

As my mother said many times, "If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all."

Again I cannot find the words to express my incredible disappointment in the people of Prince George, for their reaction to the death of Kristen Nelson. I personally believe, we as a whole, failed to be there for her.

We failed, not Kristen.
