I have had a continuing complaint with CN ever since they took over BC Rail.
The rail traffic has increased by at least 75 trains a day. The noise from the shunting of cars with remote engines is a constant day and night. The trains are heavier and longer than ever.
This morning at 6:30 a.m. there was a constant air horn from the train, over 110 blasts. They stated prior that that was an emergency whistle when they had an out of control remote.
Due to the heavy rail traffic across the river, my house, which is an older one, is settling more, creating some structural damage.
Now you can say I chose to live here on the river, yes I did, but when B.C. Rail ran five trains a day.
I know that I am not the only one to complain about the noise, etc. as a few years ago there was a massive uproar about the problem.
I always thought there was a city bylaw pertaining to noise after 10 p.m. and before 7 a.m. Why does the city not do anything?
It is time for the city and CN to take some action to alleviate the noise and to see if they can do something to cut down on the possible damage they are doing to residences.
