My husband, William Kuklis, and I recently joined the Facebook campaign to Bring Q to Prince George. When we "liked" the Facebook page, I was surprised at how many people on my friends list had no idea what Q was. Q is a radio talk show on CBC Radio One hosted by Jian Ghomeshi, who is formerly a member of the Canadian '90s band Moxy Fruvous. The show is host to fantastic music, great interviews and culturally relevant debates - and, it's pretty funny. he idea behind this campaign is to bring Q to Prince George for the Canada Winter Games in 2015 to highlight the great things and people in our city. It is an incredibly-popular show and, I think, would help counteract P.G.'s bad reputation to the rest of Canada. To this end, my husband William penned a little song in support of the campaign. The song is called, What's Your Problem Q and you can find it at his CBC Music Artist page http://music.cbc.ca/#/artists/WILLIAM-KUKLIS. Although I am a big fan of shameless self (or husband) promotion, I am mentioning this song for two reasons.
1) it's a good song and 2) it's really funny to people who live in Prince George.
Here's a snippet of one of the verses: We've got more trees than Toronto / Got more snow than Sochi / So hop on that plane / Ain't it a pity / You can't fly direct to this city.
In light of the fact that we all used to be able to take more direct flights in and out of Prince George, I think that many people in Prince George will appreciate the sentiment. This song is another example of how people who only came to Prince George for "a little while" have now found themselves entrenched in the city, and enjoying it, most days. Prince George sticks it's hooks into you and you end up liking it here in spite of not wanting to. Never in a million years did my husband anticipate that he would end up writing a love song to Prince George. I'm proud of him and of Prince George. Look at how far we've come.
