Put Site C on hold

There are many studies of the pros and cons of building the Site C dam that should be given regard. One of them, the Federal/Provincial Joint Review Panel, expressed concerns about the $9 billion cost for the construction and that's just a start.

The electricity produced would be sold at a loss. What would the environmental impact be? They are on record as saying that there is no immediate need for more power. The B.C. Utilities commission should have been consulted but were not.

As to Bruce Strachan's suggestion that we would need the power for our electric cars, he was kidding, right? Build a dam and flood how many thousand hectares of arable land to service our cars. I don't think so.

No, Mr. Godbout, it is not past the point of no return. There is no point in throwing good money after bad. One report that I read had a conclusion that gave us three options; No. 1 go ahead with the project, No. 2 cancel it, and No. 3 put it on hold.

No. 3 would seem to be the better option. We'd save billions and be able to explore alternate means of producing power. We'd save the land and if we did need to build the damn dam, we could.
