Province should have used surplus to pay down debt

I read in The Citizen a few days ago that the Liberal government has announced a budgetary surplus and is debating what to do with it. Two options were discussed: 1) More spending, 2) tax cuts. Well, where is the third option? Pay it toward the debt.

Well, where is the third option?

Pay it toward the debt. Isn't that what a fiscally responsible household would do?

Will we ever have a government that can see their way to common sense?
