This past weekend I attended the Woof Stock Music Festival.
First off, I would like to say that I thought this was a first-class event, something we have not had this close to our city in the summer for some time.
I saw three different stages, one rock, one techno and one with everything in between. Awesome local talent and from all over. DJs that normally play for crowds of thousands, fantastic light shows and beautiful sound all under an almost full moon. Everything you could want in the vendors market, I counted over 10 different food vendors alone. First class, friendly security, volunteers and first aid.
Vivian Lake Resort is beautiful on its own and the camping was plentiful, bathrooms everywhere with nice hand wash stations.
There was only one problem, nobody showed up. Why? I'm not sure, I've heard people say they didn't know about it but I saw the posters everywhere. I saw it on Facebook and other social media, I read about it in the paper and heard about the contest on the radio.
The weather? Yes it was a chilly weekend but it didn't rain much and it was rather beautiful at night under almost clear skies with the full moon and we are northerners, right?
No beer garden? C'mon, like that's ever stopped you before!
Ticket prices too high? I wonder how many people will shell out the same amount if not more to go see Shania Twain for an hour and a half.
I hope the organizers of Woof Stock can find the energy, time and money to try this event again and that the people of Prince George support it next time. As a vendor at the event I can say that it was not a success as far as my business goes but that's not because the event wasn't first class, it's because y'all didn't show up.
I support you Woof Stock and I thank you for trying to bring us something great.
