Are we ready for the "Big One?"
Oh my gosh! I was watching the news from Vancouver last night. Of course the top story was the big storm that knocked out power for 710,000 households on the island and Vancouver. It was the biggest storm in decades.
BC Hydro crews managed to restore power to almost everyone in just 72 hours. The people that were interviewed were complaining about the BC Hydro service.
You have got to be kidding me. Hydro crews worked around the clock and they brought in people from outside the Lower Mainland.
Instead of thanking the crews, all people did was complain. The most shocking to me was a man that was interviewed that said his family had not been able to shower or do laundry for three days.
I was shocked. What is going to happen when the big earthquake happens in the Lower Mainland? People will have a lot more to worry about than showers and laundry.
Having said that, just turn on the news and see people in war torn countries in other parts of the world that don't have food and shelter for their families.
Shameful, just shameful. If that is the mind set of Canadians, I worry about us as a society.
