One could almost swear that we are not the Pot-Hole Capital of BC, but the Pot-Head Capital of Canada, itself! BC's Northern Capital?...of what?
Who was smoking what, when City Council, or its advisors, came up with the notion to re-install parking meters in the downtown section?
Prince George has never been better off without them as it is now! And there should NOT be any charge for parking at the hospital, either! That in itself is sick!
If the City needs to find ways to raise money -- for such incredible blunders as paying out hundreds of thousands of dollars in severance packages to the likes of IPG CEO who (in my opinion) has never earned nor ever deserved such a lucrative 'good-bye' handshake.
The IPG should be done away with entirely, itself... along with those who where responsible for such a blunder -- that alone would save the City about a million and a half dollars a year, and fill a lot of potholes, instead of crying over the supposed $80,000 loss in Parking meter
revenue!
Then, why does the Mayor need yet another assistant when she's already got 8 members of Council to help her? Plus the City Manager! Along with a whole 'pot' full of other assistants and advisors there at City Hall for all the help she can need? That Assistant alone will cost
us another quarter million dollars a year... when you add all the benefits, office space, and yes, even severance pay when he/she/it decides to leave?
The only slack that can be given council is for the 3 new Councilors.
The others have already had their leeway over the past years, and yes, even Shari Green!
Was she not on council over the past three years?
What have they/she been doing? What are we paying them for?
As for the pothole dilemma, perhaps the City should consider installing Tollbooths on the main highways (or just off) entering the City? That should help pay for the potholes which those coming into the City must be contributing to their cause as well?
Why just hit them at the hospital, or through downtown meters, alone? Get them at the tollbooth as well, right off!
