We are in favour of the construction of a new fire hall and swimming pool.
However, these are two separate issues.
This fire hall will serve us all for many years and a bond issue to pay its full cost is well justified.
However, before we commit the full faith and credit of future Prince George taxpayers to repaying a huge loan for a pool, we might test the desire of citizens for the project.
We suggest that the city solicit donations and sponsorships for a new pool to test our collective desire for a new facility.
This could reduce the amount to be borrowed significantly.
Many of us would be proud to be acknowledged as having contributed to such a fine new facility.
