On Friday afternoon my vehicle was broken into while at work. A co-worker saw the individual and chased after him while calling 911.
The suspect was eventually apprehended and my co-worker was called into the local detachment to view a photo line-up to see if he could properly identify the suspect. The only problem with this is my co-worker was allegedly not allowed to view a current photo of the suspect, he had to view an older mug shot taken who knows when. The huge problem with this is my co-worker did not see the suspect when the picture he viewed was taken, he saw him the day of the incident. Needless to say this person walked free because my co-worker could not 100-per-cent identify the suspect from the photo as it was an older photo. People change their looks all the time, they can cut their hair, grow facial hair, get a tattoo, etc. this makes absolutely zero sense.
Who on earth is making up these laws? This is not justice, this is protecting the guilty. The law makers need to wake up in this country and start giving out harsher punishments. This is inexcusable to me. I'm now out the cost of my deductible, while this guy goes scot-free. The police have no control over this and seem equally frustrated.
It's time we wake up and start making politicians pass laws that make sense. Stop protecting the guilty.
