In the Sept. 12th Citizen, you devoted about two-thirds of page 4 to the 'Plecas issue'.

To me, the matter turns on two statements by Dr. Plecas as reported in your paper: "It was the right thing for me and the right thing to do" and, explaining his earlier statement that he wouldn't take the job because that's what the Liberal party brass told him to say, "That wasn't really from me - that was from the Premier's office".

Wasn't that the time to tell the Premier that this was the job he always wanted, end of story?

Or was he hedging his bets?

Dr. Plecas described the position in question as "The Speaker's job is an incredibly honourable role."

Time may tell us how the role and incumbent match up.
