This letter is for everyone, not just the animal lovers.
In early January, a friend of mine lost her beloved little dog to a terrible accident. Unfortunately, he got away from her, and before she could catch him, he was struck by a car near the hospital and died instantly. He was such a great little companion for my friend, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
I write this hoping that whoever reads it will appreciate and take good care of their animals in their lives. Animals give us so much. The least we can do is make sure that they are properly taken care of.
Over the years, I've seen quite a few dead animals (mostly cats) that have been hit by cars. This time of year is especially bad due to the longer darkness, the huge piles of snow, and the treacherous ice.
Please take care of the animals you have chosen to spend your lives with. They need our protection. And please drive carefully.
