Regarding the photo on the front page on the top right corner of the Saturday, Feb. 13 Prince George Citizen concerning the fatal hit and run on Jan. 30. I thought the image to be very inappropriate. Absolutely no blame to Mr. Shingler, as he witnessed this terrible tragedy, and tried to help. I am sure all the people who knew Stan applaud his efforts, as well as I, as he has to deal with the emotional trauma. However, the photograph looks like he is talking about winning the lottery, and not about this tragic, horrific accident that took an innocent life. I am sure the photographer just snapped a picture to represent the interview, and I'm glad Mr. Shingler was compensated by ICBC. Again, not accusing Mr. Shingler, it was just a moment during the interview, but I think some compassion toward family and friends should have been used by the editor before choosing that particular image. I knew Stan for 20 years, just seeing him every now and again at a pub or two, sitting there enjoying a beer, and we shared many. I saw him that day he died, and I wish now that I would have caught his attention to say hello. My condolences go out to his family, and all the friends and patrons.
