I think we should look to others for examples to help solve and appreciate our own city. After reading and listening of the many complaints on this city's snow removal I felt compelled to respond, hoping to get people to put this into perspective.
May I say, "Go visit the residential areas of Edmonton!"
Their streets are not a priority to be cleared at all - most left for days, some weeks and then when they are plowed, they get a one-way only swipe and are left as goat trails.
They never remove the excess snow and even fined one man for removing it himself with an unlicensed vehicle, a quad.
Regina assigned an area for people to clean their streets themselves and take their snow to. Both are snow cities as we are and all residents are tax ayers as we are.
As a Prince George taxpayer, I would say our city is doing an excellent job keeping up with this winter's endless bombardments of snow, and we should commend the work they do.
Then there is the endless nonsense that goes on and on to try and improve our downtown - is it not time to be constructive and active and do something?
Visit Kamloops - they have taken actual action and done an amazing job of their downtown area. Tough decisions were made and delivered, and to no harm to anyone, it is now safe, bringing business in, and a pleasure to visit.
What can be so difficult here? Conducting another study, making a decision or making sure you line the pockets of the correct people?
Whoops did I say that out loud?
