P.G. snow clearing appalling

I am writing to you in regard to winter road/street conditions in our very changing weather days this winter. As a resident of North-Central B.C. for he past 50-plus years, I am used to various winter conditions.

I am writing to you in regard to winter road/street conditions in our very changing weather days this winter. As a resident of North-Central B.C. for he past 50-plus years, I am used to various winter conditions.

I live in Burns Lake and also occasionally come to Prince George and have visited the city especially in January and February of this year. Both times there was a big snowfall prior to my two to three days stay.

I was/am appalled by the street conditions i.e. no or very poor snow removal, even of the major traffic arteries including the approach to the PGRH and its emergency entrance on Edmonton Street. The residential streets seem to not be plowed at all.

As a resident of the small town of Burns Lake, I know that snow removal there happens quickly and early, particularly after heavy snowfalls, even on weekends and at night.

The streets to our town's hospital and schools are always cleared very well before the traffic gets busy. I've heard and seen our village crews at work early. The highways also are well done.

I think that saving funds on snow removal is irresponsible because it is asking for accidents, which we are all asked to prevent.

It is not only treacherous to drive in Prince George, but also to walk, especially for seniors like myself.

I hope your fair city will do better soon and BE the "capital of the North."

F. Froese,

Burns Lake
