P.G. got a bum rap

I have been a fixture in the Prince George community since 1974 when myself, my siblings and parents immigrated to Canada from India. Therefore, I feel that I am able to gauge what this community stands for.

I have been a fixture in the Prince George community since 1974 when myself, my siblings and parents immigrated to Canada from India. Therefore, I feel that I am able to gauge what this community stands for. Consequently, I feel that the recent Macleans poll [Prince George most dangerous place in Canada] is somewhat distorted.

Sure, Prince George faces challenges like any community, but based on my perspectives those statistics are not a fair representation of this community. Since I have been here I have found that the people of Prince George are very respectful, noble and are genuinely good hard working people.

As a result, I feel that Prince George is not a crime infested community like the ones you see on Global news quite frequently.

Sure the recent municipal election showed a lack of civic engagement and crime does impact this community. Hopefully, newly elected Mayor Shari Green's proactive approach can address these problems. I think and hope she can.
