This occurred on election day.
On arrival at the polling station located at an old elementary school, we were ID'd before getting into the building. We questioned the person at the door, and she just looked at it and let us in. She did not care to explain, as this was a completely new ID process.
After entry into the building, we walked to the gymnasium which was about 20 feet from the front door. The polling stations were visible. Before entering the polling station located in the gym, we were ID'd again (just to point us in the right direction). I was just as perplexed as my wife was. We could clearly see the polling station # 84 from the doorway. We were ID'd at the polling station, which is expected. I asked the gentleman as to why we were asked for ID, this was a surprise to him.
Why do we have to be ID'd three times to vote?
Everyone was ID'd three times and I did complain to Elections Canada online.
We could not find a local address for the electoral office here.
Are we incorrect in assuming this is the normal?
We have been to many polling stations since we first elected Pierre Trudeau.
You would think we might have some experience in this practice with white coloured hair.
