In her letter: Through the doors in Thursday's Citizen, Donna Davis points out that the proposed StopGap ramp program will not solve all the accessibility issues faced by wheelchair-bound people in our city. She is absolutely correct. The StopGap program, as the name implies, will provide a temporary aid for people with mobility issues at some businesses. It is not, nor is it intended to be, a permanent solution.
Clearly, better-planned, electrically-operated entrances should be in place at many Prince George premises. Where this is not the case, may I suggest a letter of complaint to the building management.
As for the sidewalks along Winnipeg Street, may I suggest a letter to the city's Advisory Committee on Accessibility (c/o city hall).
Let's not silently stew about these issues, but bring them up, over and over if necessary.
