Apparently, Mayor Green feels that Prince George should no longer be in the golf business. Perhaps she is right. Perhaps the city should no longer be in baseball, soccer, swimming or hockey businesses either. Reading books is on the decline, lets get out of the library business. City parks are incredible value for the amount of land they occupy. Pave 'em all.
Perhaps the mayor should stop trying to attract business to P.G. with cheap land and start trying to attract people. Make the city more livable and people will come.
Most people don't work all of the time and parks and facilities like ball diamonds, soccer pitches, hockey rinks, parks and yes, even golf courses are what make a city attractive and livable.
Do we want our city to be seen as a camp where people put in time while they work, until they can move back to where ever they came from? Or do we want residents that enjoy living in P.G. and plan to stay? Make the city more livable and people will be here because they want to. Business will follow.
Oh, and because first impressions count, repairing the roads wouldn't hurt. Not everyone drives a 4x4 pickup.
