My Canada Day was made amazing by a special act of generosity.
Every Saturday morning for the past few months, I have provided a ride for my friend and one of his children to the Farmers Market where he sells Middle Eastern pastries. My friend, his wife and five children are Syrian refugees that lost everything before immigrating to Canada and Prince George in March 2016.
This past Saturday morning, Canada Day, I was greeted by my friend at his front door, he was wearing a red shirt that had a big CANADA logo on it. He asked me right away if I liked the minivan that was parked in front of his house. He then proceeded to tell me an amazing story about the generosity of some guy he had never met before named Rich. Apparently, my friend, following up on a for sale ad, went over to Rich's house to view the minivan. Once they started talking Rich realized my friend had recently come from war-torn Syria and was trying build a better life for his family. He then reduced the asking price for the minivan by thousands of dollars to $1.
Thank you Rich. You made this one of the best Canada Day's for me. Your generosity is amazing and this clearly shows the caring and helping spirit that Prince George residents are well known for and shows what being Canadian is all about.
