Parents need to teach responsibility

This is a letter to all the irresponsible parents who think that its OK to get their young children pets without teaching them the responsibility of caring for them.

This is a letter to all the irresponsible parents who think that its OK to get their young children pets without teaching them the responsibility of caring for them.

My grandchildren were visiting and I took them to play at the playground of a school nearby, we saw two girls with a tiny kitten (maybe a month old) I asked them about their kitten. They told me that they go to this school and are in Grades 2 and 3. They were being very rough with this kitten.

I told them it was just a baby and they needed to be very gentle.

My grandson then decided to go play at the far side of the playground, so we left the girls and were gone about 15 minutes. When we came back we saw the girls sitting on the ground by the slide as we got closer, I hear the girls laughing and saw that they had buried the kitten in the gravel and were holding it down. The poor little kitten was fighting to get away, I was very upset and told the girls I would call the SPCA and that their kitten would be taken away from them.

My question is to the parents who get baby pets for their children. What is wrong with people who think that animals don't hurt, what kind of world do they live in?

This is why we have so much violence and gang activities, these children need to learn from birth that cruelty is not the answer. Wake up people. Teach your children kindness.

At this point that kitten and many others may be crippled or dead because of irresponsible parents. Please do not get your children pets without teaching them how to care for them.
