Out of the pool

I've been reading with interest letters from people upset about the gentleman's treatment at the swimming pool. To provide another perspective, several years ago we and our out-of-town family visited the pool with my one-and-a-half year old nephew.

I've been reading with interest letters from people upset about the gentleman's treatment at the swimming pool. To provide another perspective, several years ago we and our out-of-town family visited the pool with my one-and-a-half year old nephew. I stayed out of the water to film his first-ever experience in a public pool and to record his initially surprised, then uncertain, then absolutely thrilled expressions. I was asked to stop because another parent and pool staff were concerned for the safety of other children present in the pool. It was extremely insulting and embarrassing to me and I have never returned to the pool, even though I understand it was not personal and was a purely protective, if misdirected, measure. By the way, I am a lily white female and blond to boot, middle-aged and as non-threatening in appearance as the yellow mat on which my nephew floated.
