The news this past week of an unmarked burial site at a residential school in Kamloops is an unspeakable tragedy. The new comes as a great shock to many. How could this profound story not have been public knowledge when these events were happening?
I would ask two media outlets that have provided the news to the central interior for decades, The Prince George Citizen and the CBC, what has been their role in all of this? What did they know and when?
By their silence, were they tacitly in support of the practices of that time? We await a clear response to these questions.
