Opinion: Here’s a C-minus to Prince George city council

Only three councillors have shown any interest in dealing with the populace at large while the others just mostly follow the pack and do nothing but crow and say they've done a good job.

It's been almost a year since we've voted in a new city council and mayor and so far city council has yet to impress the citizens of the city.

I give the city council at best a C-minus for some effort. Only three councillors have shown any interest in dealing with the populace at large while the others just mostly follow the pack and do nothing but crow and say they've done a good job.

Mayor Yu and Councillors Skaken, Klassen and Sampson are the only councillors that seem to represent the city as a whole. The rest of the councillors apparently are scared of doing anything without asking their shadows first, then second guessing themselves at every turn. So far council has done little to represent the city at large, which means all areas of the city not just their little area that they are comfortable in.

Mayor Yu has attempted to move forward on several issues yet aside from the three afore mentioned councillors the rest won't buck the trend and tend to either vote down resolutions or look for more information by forming another committee that will tell them what the entire city already knows. So let’s waste another $100 thousand that they already know the answer to.

The homeless issue is still forefront to many people that live and work in the Bowl, yet aside from the First Avenue encampment, most of the city council still won't do anything about the issue at large and those that want to do something about it are often voted down by the other councillors who seem to be scared of their shadows.

You were voted in to represent the entire city, so isn't it about time you started representing the city as a whole and not your supporters? I used to watch the live city council meetings faithfully but have stopped watching because many of the councillors seem to live in a dream world rather than reality.
