Open letter to the mayor

Hi Dan, Sorry, it's been a few weeks since we have spoken, but again something is wrong in Mr. Rogers's neighbourhood.

Hi Dan,

Sorry, it's been a few weeks since we have spoken, but again something is wrong in Mr. Rogers's neighbourhood.

I have been thinking about ways to re-vitalize the downtown, you know, make it more attractive, draw more people, and I think I've got it - why don't we raise the parking fines, that would be a great draw for the city?

I mean, who would go to the malls, where they have free parking, undercover full shopping? Wow, that's a no brainer.

I know you have given it lots of thought, but also just about all the roads to the downtown, well I guess everywhere, are really bad, that's another draw to the core areas.

I was also wondering about our big new improved tax increases.

I see you have not dropped the taxes on big business, but lessened them on the smaller ones, and increased residential, on a little bit of a flip flop. I wonder which group will be the most irate?

Well having said my piece, and again whining about taxes etc. I realize we need more revenues for the city, so they can do all they want to build new better structures, for the few, and the heck with core infrastructure, you know, roads, natural gas lines, and all the other things that make the city actually work.

Oh well, I guess I will take off my rose coloured glasses, and just be happy to live here, as I have for almost 50 years now.

Oh, by the way, good luck on the upcoming election in November.

Your bud,

Bill Manders
