OMG, TGIF and BFF

In this age of cell phones, texts and tweets, everything is instant and fast. Communication is also abbreviated with many acronyms that are sometimes difficult to figure out.

Such is life. Eventually we figure them out even though we have to google to find the answer.

My friend recently replied with TAM and after several minutes of googling and looking over the possibilities for the situation realized she was saying Thanks a Million.

OMG (Oh My God) is another popular one. It is used often in replies to things that surprise, shock or amaze us. As we enter the Easter season, we can use OMG for many things that happened 2,000 years ago.

OMG, they just arrested Jesus. OMG, they're beating him to a pulp. OMG, they're going to crucify him. OMG, he's up on the cross. OMG, he's dead now. OMG, it's completely dark. OMG, there's an earthquake happening. OMG, they put him in a tomb. OMG, he's risen from the dead.

TGIF (Thank God It's Friday) is another common acronym. We usually say that when we've had a hard week and are approaching the weekend. But we can use TGIF as we approach Good Friday.

What's good about a Friday that commemorates the death of Jesus? He died for your mistakes so you can live forever with Him in paradise.

And BFF is another acronym, for Best Friend Forever. There is a song, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." Jesus was not only a great teacher and healer. He was the Son of God who died for our mistakes and rose from the grave so that we may have life with Him.

He is our BFF who will never leave or forsake us in our hardest times.

Oh my God, thank God there was Good Friday, so we can have Jesus as our best friend ever.
