Old traffic problem still unfixed

Over a year ago, you wrote about the travels of our municipal politicians and that their travels would bring us good will. It might be interesting to find out what their travels really brought us here in Prince George.

I would like to suggest that instead of politicians doing the travels that some technical people venture out and learn more how to adjust and tweak our traffic light system. Some months back driving on Ospika Boulevard, I approached the Ospika and Massey intersection from the south. Of course the light turned red on me and as I was the only vehicle at the intersection, I thought the wait would be short.

But no, the Massey lanes got their green left turn lights first, with no other vehicle in sight, then Massey got the green light for the straight through traffic, again lwith no other vehicle around. Being naive I thought now for sure it is my turn, but no the Ospika left lanes came first and all this time I was the only vehicle at the intersection.

Mind you it was about 9:30 p.m. but that is no excuse!

In the meantime I noticed so many other traffic lights being out of sync as well. To move traffic, especially during rush hour, the traffic has to flow.

Turning Fourth Ave into a two-way street and adding traffic lights plus several stop signs, does not improve the traffic flow.

Many years ago I used to work with Ron Thiel and when he was a city councillor we gave him heck then about the traffic lights not working smoothly and this was probably 20 years ago.

I guess we do not want to improve or learn!
