Re: October Report Cards
George Abbott says that Bill 22 means that teachers are now going to have to go back and do any report cards that have been missed as a result of the job action.
I have two kids in the school system, one in elementary and the other in high school.
Since the job action started, I haven't
received any report cards.
What I have received from each of my children's teachers instead are detailed monthly statements about how my kids have done on each and every quiz, assignment, project,
essay, test, lab, and exam.
Ironically, I now know more about how my kids are doing in school than ever before.
So when teachers say that, as a result of the job action, they have had to work harder to keep parents informed about their kids - I
believe them.
Thanks anyway to Mr. Abbott, but in my family 'we're good.'
In fact, as a result of the job action and the extra work that teachers have been putting into my kids, we're more than good.
I don't need to see my kids' report cards from last October.
All I would like from Mr. Abbott at this stage is that he and his government at least try not to do anything to make this horrible dispute any worse than it already is.
We're all at the bottom of a deep hole as a result of the labour dispute in our schools.
One would think that Mr. Abbott and Ms. Clark would at least be smart enough to figure out that the first thing we need to do is stop digging.
It would appear that our Liberal government is now incapable of meeting even this minimal standard of managerial
competency.
