Oath-breaker should have worked to change laws instead

Regarding The Citizen story about Srabon Salim disavowing the oath to the Queen as soon as he had received his Canadian Citizens certificate.

I wonder why immigrants are not taught the most basic rules about what it means to be a Canadian citizen?

We, in Canada have chosen to have the Queen as head of state, whether she wields much, or little power.

As a Canadian citizen, Salim has the right to advocate for Canada's laws to be changed so we no longer have the Queen as head of state, but he can not disavow his oath. If he could do this, then he could disavow following a myriad of Canadian laws including giving an honest tax return.

Beside all this, how can an honest person swear an oath and when he has gained his purpose for it, then say his swearing was a falsehood?
