What an anxiety filled week it was before Christmas.
Friday was to be the end of the world, and the day the NRA was going to tell us what their "meaningful contribution" would be, in the wake of the Newtown shootings.
I wasn't sure which one would be least likely to occur.
When I first heard the NRA was staying silent for a few days following the Sandy Hook massacre, I thought maybe they would come out with an intelligent statement but, alas their solution to the gun problem is of course more guns, more bullets and, of course, more bloodshed, not less.
The idea of putting armed guards in schools would only mean that the armed guard would be the first to die, as the ones who commit these atrocities do put a lot of planning into their efforts. The people of America need to wake up and discover that they have a democracy and they hold more power than they think. The only thing that will stop a huge well-organized gun lobby is a bigger and better organized anti-gun lobby.
