As a long-standing faculty member ay UNBC, I am dismayed by both media coverage and letters to editors as well as the usual comments that lump all faculty in to the same category as various situations are discussed from the strike to the Faculty Association Executive comments on anything to the controversy over the Chancellor appointment.
We are a very diverse group of people with frankly diverse views and some of us are not shy about airing our disagreements and unhappiness publicly.
However, I hope our communities understand that, for many of us, regardless of tensions up the hill, the important focus is to do our job, to keep the students taught and engaged and succeeding, to do the research that contributes to the region, nation and the globe and to continue serving our communities through outreach, etc.
So please remember, when some of our colleagues are in the paper or on TV and radio raising their concerns again, as is their unquestioned right, they don't speak for all of us on any subject and many of us are just trying to do our jobs to the best of our ability to keep UNBC a place where people want to come and send their kids.
With greatest respect,
