I am writing in response to Bruce Strachan's article of May 31, 2012, which he entitled

"Dissecting a Socialist Brain Trust," a title completely expected from a former Social

Credit cabinet minister.

Mr. Strachan, the coming election is not about the 80s or the 90s. It will be about the

Liberals' record (the governing party) and what each party's vision is for the future of our

province. That is why the polls are showing what they are, and why there is growing

support for the NDP.

As for the Liberals' record, it is not something to be proud of -- BC Rail, HST, BC Hvdro

(deterred costs, IPPs etc.). crisis in the justice system, forestr, highest child poverty rate

in Canada eight years running, BC Place, Community Living, and so on.

You may have forgotten the Liberals' misleading budget of 2009, where the

Liberals budget pre-election vs. post-election was off by over $2.5 billion - the worst

"estimate" in BC's history. The Liberals are, of course, a coalition of the "Neo-Liberal

Brain Trust" which includes the conservatives and socreds.

In the face of vicious American-style attacks, Adrian Dix is an authentic and pragmatic

leader who is doing politics differently. The NDP has been very positive, focusing on the

issues that matter to people, and that is why, as you noted, their support continues to

grow. All the while, the Liberals continue to sell off the province including public assets

such as the liquor distribution branch - another mark of the "Neo-Liberal Brain Trust''.
