Not buying into HST

I am not surprised at the arrogance of our provincial government for spending millions of our tax dollars to tell us again and again how wonderful the HST is and how we are too stupid to see it.

That has always been their (after the fact) way of doing business. But I am angry. I can tell you, it hasn't been wonderful for seniors like myself living on a fixed income that barely, and sometimes does not always cover extra expenses that pop up regularly.

Forget about going out for dinner and a movie or taking a vacation. What about a nice drive in the country? Forget that too, with the ballooning gas prices, plus carbon tax and government taxes.

It would take a lot of convincing and proof to make me believe that giving our tax money to big corporations will create jobs.

I am talking real full time jobs, where you can make a decent living to support yourself and your family. People get a college or university education these days, graduate with thousands of dollars in debt and go to work in a bar or fast food place. Not exactly your dream job.

Show me the jobs that have been created, name them and then I might start to believe. I know about the ones that we have lost through out sourcing raw logs and closing down our sawmills, etc.

Something I wonder about - if the HST is rejected and we return to GST/PST, will it be a true return? Or will the GST or PST be bumped up to match the HST? Will the extra taxes that were added on to the HST be removed? Or will there be additional taxes added to more purchases like food essentials, etc.?
