Not an easy road to victory

The event last Saturday night at Art Space with Dan Brooks, leader of the BC Conservative party, was a great success. I was positively elated to see so many fellow conservatives and reformers out in full force. Clearly, people in Prince George are eager for meaningful change and intelligent policy at the provincial level. Our time has come.

However, like Dan, I believe it will not be an easy road to victory in 2017. Both the government and the official opposition already have vast resources at their disposal to fight an election, and despite the egregious conduct of both sides of the legislature, their incumbency makes them all the more difficult to dislodge.

Of course there is a way to turn the tables on the ruling elite, a rather simple trick really: tapping into the talents, abilities, and ideas of everyday British Columbians. Unlike our opponents, Dan, myself, and the party at large want to build a platform by the people, of the people, and for the people. And the greatest resource to accomplish that end is none other than you, the voter.

I'd like to think that even though our party doesn't have the money to pay for full time spin doctors in short-pants, we actually don't need them, because people want intelligent policy, and that's generated every day by friends chatting at Tim Hortons or by families over dinner. All anyone has to do is write it down, promote it to others, and implement it appropriately. It's not rocket science.

I challenge you to take out a membership and show up to a constituency meeting (find us on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/PGVConservative). You may not think you have much to offer, but that is simply not true because in grassroots democracy, a principle we BC Conservatives hold dear, everyone has something to contribute. From issues with wildlife allocation to questions about MSP premiums, from pensioners to young parents, everyone has a vested interest in an accountable, fiscal, and intelligent government in Victoria.

Yes it will be a long and difficult road to victory in 2017, but I believe that with your help it can be realized. So let's get started!
