Nobody wants a bruised apple

Polar Pen

Assignment: Metaphor Writing. Compare two ideas or objects by stating or implying that one object or idea IS another.

By Mykhala Prosser, Writing 12

Heartbreak is a bruised apple. Succumbing to gravity, and falling, is inevitable. From the first moment he picks you from the bunch and finds you beautiful, it's hard not to give him your attention. He comes off shy, trying not to spook you away with his infatuation. He treats you delicately, wants to make and keep you happy. He comes to you when he thinks he needs you; he makes you feel chosen, appreciated, and wanted in a way you thought nobody ever would. A dim glow of mischievousness fuels his smile, striking your normally cold and defensive nature. He makes you think he's always going to be there like he promised, but the trouble with falling is that you eventually reach the bottom, and it's usually harder than you expected.

Your skin is proven thinner than you thought when his hand lets you slip away in an act of carelessness. Just like that, he drops his promises. Just like that, he drops you. Helplessness and insecurity occupy your mind as there is nothing you can do or say; you're already gone and he doesn't even try to catch you. Your flesh is bruised from the impact.

You can't help but feel tainted and damaged, sparking a fear: nobody wants a bruised apple; nobody wants a bruised heart.

Assignment: Poetry

By Montana Rose

Alone

Alone I stand faced with death

And alone I stand defeated

Alone I stand with my fate

That as always has been repeated

Alone in a maze

Full of hate and despair

Alone with a heart

That's too broken to care

Alone with a heart

So twisted and cold

The sorrows inside

Are a sight to behold

Alone I stand

Alone I fell

Alone I'll run

Through the hills of hell.
