No standing ovation for city council decision

Dear Mr Godbout, I shared your frustration and anger following city council meeting on Monday evening, and I expect many of the nearly 100 supporters of the performing arts centre project in the gallery felt the same way.

Dear Mr Godbout, I shared your frustration and anger following city council meeting on Monday evening, and I expect many of the nearly 100 supporters of the performing arts centre project in the gallery felt the same way. From the outset it was clear that all the aldermen were in favour of the capital project, and an hour-and-a-half later they were still in favour of it. Now standard procedures within the city organization have to be followed, the report of the PAC committee has to be studied and tidied up. I think we'll all be watching the city manager to see that this happens early in the new year.

My great disappointment was when Mayor Green told us how senior levels of government were not at all interested in helping with funding a performing arts centre in Prince George.

I am wondering if we still have that very dated image of a rough town, with boardwalks

everywhere. There certainly was much talk of infrastructure. Is the beauty of Prince George still a much too well-guarded secret? And why is that?

The only good thing about that meeting was that it was very civilized-an example to other greater cities for sure.
