No minimum wage hike; no councillors pay hike

Reading the paper last week on the front page was an article about the city government wanting to increase their wages.

Reading the paper last week on the front page was an article about the city government wanting to increase their wages.

This really disturbed me as a few months ago I was reading another article that all the mayors and city governments from many communities in Northern and Western B.C. were getting together a petition to bring to Parliament to have the minimum wage increased but our city government was not in favour and did not participate.

It is not bad enough the economy is what it is, but having a low minimum wage does not help either.

This really made me wonder why? Why would the city not want to help the citizens... is it maybe that some of the city government are business owners and do not want to pay more?

I do not know these answers but what I do know is that in no way am I in support of the city government increasing their wage if the can not do the same for the citizens of Prince George!
