No handicap parking, either

Congratulations to Northern Health for creating a first in the civilized world: a hospital with no parking for people with handicaps.
Letter

Congratulations to Northern Health for creating a first in the civilized world: a hospital with no parking for people with handicaps.

The three spots marked with the familiar wheelchair symbol that had escaped the current construction are now signed: "30 minute parking." Anyone familiar with the speed of treatment - of any kind - at UNHBC knows that there is absolutely nothing that takes less than 30 minutes. (Simple blood tests require a typical wait of 90 minutes.)

This means that, as a wheelchair user, I cannot see any of the specialists or clinics that I need at UHNBC. So I will just have to forgo treatment until I collapse and have to be taken to hospital by ambulance.

There is a parking spot for that.
