No excuses for passing stopped school buses

I am one of many frustrated parents out there who are tired of hearing about careless incidents involving school buses, from drivers rear-ending school buses, to drivers failing to stop for school buses dropping off children, just to name a couple.

Correct me if I'm wrong but school buses are not invisible. They are painted a bright yellow so they can be seen from a distance. They have bright flashing red lights so drivers are alerted to school buses stopping.

They have a mechanical stop sign so drivers can see they need to stop, and more importantly, school buses carry children.

You do not pass a school bus while it is stopped.

There is no place you need to be in that much of a hurry that would cause you to endanger the lives of children.

There needs to be higher fines, more awareness and media coverage, for the safety of children.
