Hello, I'm living in a rural area north of town and have five acres outside of city limits.
About three weeks ago my wife had a visit from an officer of the SPCA about our dog being on a chain.
Our dog is inside the house every evening and always well taken care of. We have neighbourhood dogs that are rooming free all the time in our yard.
We had complaints of our dog, in the past, running around free, fighting with other neighbourhood dogs.
I thought we were being responsible neighbours but apparently, according to the SPCA, we were being inhumane with our dog as he was tied up.
There is no ordinance for dogs running free outside of city limits quoted by the SPCA, as a result it is perfectly OK for dogs to hang out in packs.
This is a huge concern of mine as my wife and children walk on the roads and are constantly confronted by these packs.
I will take matters into my own hands if one of my family members gets hurt by these packs that the SPCA condones out here outside of city limits.
It is like the wild west out here, without animal control and when you do the right thing, there is the SPCA to turn it into a mess.
