The editor and city council:
I was appalled by the NIMBY editorial in the May 6 Citizen. It was degrading for the people living in the area and a kick in the guts for the people trying to make the area a better place to live. I was very disappointed in the editor's comments, they were very condescending. Who has been in an adult store recently? Maybe the middle-aged women and grandmas wouldn't be shopping for goods in the adult stores if the middle-aged men and grandpas weren't out cruising for damaged goods.
The big question is, why do we need another adult store in P.G. in the same area as two other adult stores? There is also a school in the area. What residential area wants creeps and perverts in their area all hours of the day and night? And yes they could sell drug paraphernalia. NIMBY you bet and I have the right to be NIMBY.
If the city council and the planning dept. thinks another adult store in the same area is a good idea then there is something wrong with the picture. The smart thing to have done would have been to put the new Suplus Herbys in the Victoria St. site and the adult store on 2nd Ave.
I guess that wouldn't go with the planning dept.'s plan to try to keep the city's problems in one area.
