I totally agree with the letter by Mike Bundock in the Prince George Citizen on Jan. 11 (Reader not happy with changes at the Citizen).
However, The Citizen is not the only newspaper forcing people to go online to read the news. The Province newspaper is doing the same thing by their outrageous increase in their prices.
On Dec. 31, 2010, the price of a Province newspaper was $1.25, with HST of $0.15, total price $1.40. As of Jan. 2, 2011, the price is now $1.64, plus HST of $.0.20, total price $1.84.
This is a weekday rate, the increase is 32 per cent. I am sure the Province employees appreciated a 32 per cent increase in wages on their first pay check of 2011 to justify this increase.
Because of this outrageous increase, they have lost a 30 year customer.
Is it any wonder that the newspaper industry is in trouble?
