What is the definition of a Senior Citizen?
Well, a senior citizen is a common polite designation for an elderly person, and it implies or means that the person is retired.
The majority of seniors are active and busy people and we are also doing some pretty important and worthwhile things as volunteers for many non-profit groups.
The main focus of this column will be the stories, events and the news about busy and active seniors. I want to make mention in this column the news about their work as volunteers, their travels, and their passions.
Non-profit groups always have fun events and fund raising events. I want to talk about both of them. Tell me about your coming events for your non-profit group and we will get the news out to anyone that reads this column. The Prince George Citizen is giving senior citizens this platform to get our stories, our news, our coming events and almost anything else that we might want to talk about.
Let's start out with news concerning Senior's Day at the PGX this Thursday. Their definition of seniors is age 60 and up (this meaning varies from place to place). The senior admission fee for Thursday is $5 instead of the normal $10. It is a great day to attend the PGX because there will be many great exhibits pertaining to seniors. I hear the Gospel Singers, directed by Joyce Burkitt from the Elder Citizens Recreation Centre, will be there with a really great show. Their talented pianist is Barb Claffey and that alone makes it an event you will not want to miss.
The Citizen has enlisted a senior citizen to write a column to tell other seniors about events and news that pertain to our demographic. As seniors we now have another voice in the Prince George Citizen, so let's use it.
Just email me your information at [email protected] and let's get started.
