New car, New Ice Age wonderful gifts

I was the very lucky winner of a new car at the Prince George Cougars' game this past Saturday night, and would like to publicly express my gratitude to the Cougars' organization and their sponsor, Northland Nissan, for such a generous gift.

Who goes to a hockey game and drives home in a new car, no strings attached? It's crazy! I love it, and still can't believe my luck. Thank you.

But, maybe even more, I'd like to publicly express my gratitude to the club's new ownership, and organization, for the gift they have given to the fans of this community - the New Ice Age.

I am a lifelong hockey fan, and moved to Prince George 10 years ago, in awe of my great fortune: how lucky was I to live in a city home to a BCHL and a WHL team? That lucky, except at that time the WHL experience was somewhat soul crushing... but not anymore!

The dramatic change in one-and-a-half short seasons has been astronomical from a fans perspective - not only in the NHL-like experience the new ownership has gone to great lengths to deliver, but in the passion and ferocity of fellow fans, the coaching staff, other staff and volunteers and, especially, the exceptional players whose pride, skill and great effort are left all over the ice.

Win or lose, there is something very special about junior hockey and witnessing the journey of the young men who achieve the dream of playing it.

So, thank you for that, all of that. I look forward to whatever the remainder of this season brings, and beyond.
